About
Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) Guidance and Counselling aims at providing students with the comprehensive professional knowledge and skills they need to manage a range of psychological issues, including developmental challenges, behavioural difficulties, socioemotional distress, and psychological stress from difficult various challenging situations.
The curriculum is designed beyond and above the Malaysian Board of Counsellor’s Standards and Requirements of Training for Counsellors. Students will receive intensive training to help people achieve their full potential and have their psychological well-being improved. The goal of the curriculum is to create highly skilled and ethical professional counsellors.
Highlights of the Programme
Upon completion of this program, graduates are not just equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in various counselling methodologies but are also eligible to take a crucial step towards becoming recognized professionals in Malaysia. They can apply for professional registration and licensure with the Malaysian Board of Counsellors (Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia), a regulatory body responsible for ensuring the quality and ethical practice of counsellors in Malaysia. This licensure is often a prerequisite for many employment opportunities in the counselling field, making it a critical step for graduates who wish to pursue their career in various industries including healthcare, education, community services, and private practice among others. Thus, the pathway from graduation to professional registration symbolizes a transition from academic preparation to recognized professional status.
