The journalism industry continues to evolve, redefining the way people experience news. Access to information is always crucial in the society. In this programme, students will be able to learn how to be part of the process of information dissemination in a fair and objective manner. 

Bachelor of Communication (Honours) Journalism programme in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) offers a thorough and well-rounded curriculum that covers all aspects of the field. Our students are taught the fundamentals of news writing, information gathering, critical thinking as well as presentation of news in this digital era. We ensure that students have the necessary skills to excel in the media industry. 

Students will also learn to develop their creativity by fusing traditional and non-traditional methods, with cutting-edge news trends together with Artificial Intelligence (AI). The programme curriculum has been updated to include the Fourth Industrial Revolution as well as incorporating topics related to AI.

Highlights of the Programme

Press Rider   
It is an opportunity for students to develop writing skills and gain experience as a journalist. By enrolling in the programme, students are automatically a member of Press Rider. Involvement in Press Rider will allow students to directly practice what they have learnt in class. Students will have the chance to sharpen their skills in real life situations which includes: news writing, interview skills, video production and editing, maintain website and social media platforms,  building network

Facilities
Students will have access to facilities such as news editing room, studio and labs specially catered for the programme. The university has labs equipped with iMac computers and software to assist students in their journalistic work. Equipment such as cameras, mics and drones are also available to ensure students have hands-on experience in news production.
