INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT

Industrial Training is a core component to the FAS learning experience. By sending students for internships and attachments in companies around Malaysia and overseas, the module is designed to provide students with the opportunity to:

Discover and familiarize themselves with professional requirements, work culture, and discipline

Observe real-life practices and apply the technical skills they have learned in authentic settings

Develop soft skills such as leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills in a working environment .

The attachment is also a great opportunity for students to test out the companies and/or industries they will be working in in the near future, as well as for companies to identify potential future employ

FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS

The FAS IA Committee has implemented a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Industrial Training module.

FOR INTERESTED ORGANISATIONS

The Industrial Training module is offered to undergraduate students from the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) undergoing the following programme:

  • Bachelor of Arts (Honours) English Language

During the period of internship, students are required to submit a monthly report which consists of weekly log to their academic advisor, with the endorsement of their on-site supervisor. A visitation will be carried out by the faculty member (either physical or virtual, depending on the company preference). Towards the end of the internship period, the on-site supervisor is required to evaluate intern/student performance via a virtual form. Students are required to present their internship experience at the end of the internship period in the campus (placement in Peninsular Malaysia). For placement in East Malaysia and outbound internship, the presentation will be in virtual mode.
